"Building District and School-level Leadership Capacity to Change Teacher Practice and Student Outcomes"

In the summer of 2013, NCDPI will feature their third round of intensive, blended professional development sponsored by Race to the Top (RttT) for LEAs and Charter Schools. This page will feature information about Summer Institutes 2013. Please refer to the points, documents, and links below or contact your RttT Coordinator or Contact Person for the 2012 Summer Institutes Leadership Team for additional information if you are attending as a representative for your district or school.


SPRING 2013 READY REGIONAL OUTREACH VIRTUAL MEETINGS

REGISTRATION

As we move toward the end of the school year and the start of the 2013-14 year, there will be new assessments, a new accountability model, a new evaluation system and new technology tools to support teachers and students. It's important during this time of remodeling and change that we keep strong communication flowing.

Recently, you received a Save the Date notice for the Spring 2013 Regional Outreach Virtual Meetings – the third round of READY Outreach Meetings hosted by State Superintendent June Atkinson and NCDPI. This time we are using virtual meeting tools to continue the conversation and information sharing.

Please select ONE DATE EACH to REGISTER for the Home Base Outreach session and the Accountability/Assessments session.

****IMPORTANT NOTE: Each meeting will have a limited number of spaces, so there should be only ONE log-in per school or central office for each session. We ask principals to designate one area, such as a media center, auditorium, or conference room, and invite key personnel to attend. We ask the same of superintendents in central offices.****

April 8, April 23 OR May 6, 3:30 to 5 pm – Accountability/Assessments – Setting New Expectations

This session will focus on what to expect in the fall when results of new student assessments and the General Assembly's New Accountability Model are reported for the first time. There also will be ample time for Q&A.

Presenters: Superintendent Atkinson, Chief Academic Officer Rebecca Garland, Deputy Chief Academic Officer Angela Quick and Director of Accountability Services Tammy Howard.

April 18, April 22 OR April 29, 3:30 to 5 pm – Home Base Demonstrations and What's Coming This Fall

This will be an overview of our new technology tool, Home Base (including PowerSchool, which replaces NC WISE on July 1, educator evaluation and professional development tools and instructional improvement tools). The meeting also will include a generous Q&A time.

Presenters: Dr. Atkinson, Dr. Quick and representatives of the Digital Learning division.
